What do the brothers use for De-essing ?

I'm doing a few pop tracks that needs the very bright vocal approach.

This is bringing up the ssses as one might expect.

What's the best Protools option ?

Does anyone just skip through the S sounds and reduce them manually ?

Interesting post about de-essing in Logic. Might do the trick & it's free.

    Thanks Gents -

I'd forgotten about the DS Mapper .... and how good it is.
(and the fact I bought it with my own hard cash!)

I'm always chopping and changing plugins to try and get to 'know' as many as I can but really, as in most things in life, find something that works and demand a very good reason to change.

The DSM certainly is a whopper though.

I've also found it good for 'de-clanking' the bass.

Any other suggestions for it's use ?

i would advise everyone to try out DSM.

paul frindle is a programming genius and an all round great guy and DSM is definitly an amazing and one of a kind product.. also he gave me 2 extended ilok demos of DSM with no questions asked before i bought it.

it does de-essing, limiting, tonal control and a lot more besides. it is by its nature quite a complicated tool but with his online tutorials (and some amazing presets as starting points) its not too hard to get your head around the basics.

    +1 for DSM.

Great for mix limiting too but easy to overdo.

I've also had moderate de-essing success with Sonnox Supressor.
