I have a Toshiba laptop running Win7, it refuses to run normally I can access everything in Safe Mode with Networking but when i try to start it normally it just hangs after I enter the password, won't let me access the control panel to do a restore and the only restore point in safe mode goes back 3 days, is there any other options? before the laptop repair center opens in Uni?

I don't have a restore disk or copy of licence key for the Win7

You might be able to get around the problem by creating a new user account and using it instead.

Create a new user account in Safe Mode, then restart your computer into normal mode and try to log in as the new user. If you can log in successfully then you can transfer your files to the new account and then delete the malfunctioning user account.

Make sure that you have everything copied from the old user account that you want to keep. And you are making backups, aren't you? :)

    Thanks, Odaise Gaelach.

periodically do back ups, this is not my main computer only use it for college, surfing etc back everything else up to an external hard drive on my main PC.

will try that and get back to you :D

    It worked a treat thanks,

Bought myself a little netbook today just in case, makes more sense than lugging this monster in and out of college everyday. besides the battery on this is dead and will only last for a few minutes. So I will retire this thing gracefully!

I have to young fellas here who would be happy to relieve me of it. :D
They would fall out with me if I gave it away.
