Noitced a leak from my almeras oil sump. I know I could take this off and change the oil myself. Done some looking into repairing the sump. I thought they where sealed with a gasket, but some people suggest welds??? Never heard of this before. Any help would be great thanks.

Is it leaking from around the drain bolt? If so, the sump washer probably isn't making a seal. I had this in my old Hyundai. I reused the sump washer too many times. Now I use a new sump washer with every oil change.
If it's the sump itself that's cracked, then a replacement part would probably be better than a weld.

Next time you change the oil remove the sump, degrease it, and check it over for cracks etc. They can be repaired. Inspect/replace the gasket, and refit (use a torque wrench for proper and even tightness).

No the leak coming from the join between the sump and the engine. No visable damage on the outside. If it is damaged il just replace it.
But there is a gasket also that could cause the leak?? So if that is damaged just replace that?

Sounds like the gasket alright. Try replacing the gasket first. Simplest and cheapest. If it works, all well and good.

Nissans don't use a gasket on the sump, just sealer. The sump on an Almera would also never leak with the factory sealer still in place, if its leaking its a sign that it was off before for some reason, timing chain replacement being the most common reason to remove the sump if its an n16 almera.
