How to find a cheap flight ANYWHERE with Ryanir/Aer Lingus

    Hi All,

I'm looking to find a cheap flight. I don't care where to a certain extent, I'm not too bothered when as long as its a Fri-Sun / Sat-Mon

Is there some trick to beating the Aer Lingus / Ryanair system of finding a cheap weekend price?

I am starting to lose patience going back and forward on the browser and changing dates and destinations.

Another annoyance that you might help me with. I was considering flying from Shannon to Gatwick and back from Stanstead. The reason was because the times/price was better back from Stanstead than from Gatwick but it wanted me to pay in Sterling and probably would have gotten me twice with charges. Oddly enough the price was €41.98 return for 2 people and £41.98 return for 2 people. How can the Sterling price and Euro price come up as the same when the two currencies do not match up???

I want to make one booking in Euro, not one in two different currencies(extra cc charges and higher conversion)

    And suggestions advice is appreciated.

That should do it for you.

    Try this website - http://www.cheapflights.ie/

Look at "Where Am I Going" just below the searchbox, and click the Map option instead of List. The blue icons are the flights under €50 return. There are some for €12 to the UK and about €45 to Spain.

As far as I know, there's no way around the currency issue on the Ryanair website. If the flight originates in the UK, you're charged in sterling.

no trick really, the cheap seats arent generally on the days you mentioned as with most people they would like to travel those days for business and pleasure. if you went midweek youll see them much cheaper.

3 main factors i always think:
    when?
    where?
    what time?

you said you dont care where which is good but you want to travel at weekends which is bad.
now the "when" part ie what time of year, if your booking for next weekend its gonna be expensive, if your booking 3-7months in advance its gonna be cheap but not the cheapest. the cheapest is usually around 1-2months before the flight, which is when their sales are going on.
so when do you want to go? feb march?

for example i just put in feb friday 18th coming back sunday 20th to oslo and it would be €12 return!

    Late Feb / Early March.

I cannot really go midweek because I start a new job on Tuesday so cannot really take time off midweek.

The sales may be on right now but frankly the outbound flights early are fine but the sales are selling the flights coming back early also which are out because, naturally to get the most out of a day, we wish to return on an evening flight which are not on sale.

    Cannot find the march one.

Ryanair to Brussels from Sat 26 - Mon 28 Feb is €20 return if you come back on the early flight or €28 return for the evening flight
