I needed to increase the range in my router as well and found the only way od doing so without spending big money was to put the router in the attic and this has worked for me now I have broadband in every room in the house , my house is an old house with thick Walls

I use 2 of these one is wired to the eircom route and in a differant room the other one links wirelessly to the wired one and covers my whole house and garden

Is there any type of plug that you can plug in upstairs or where ever in your house that has poor wireless signal that would increase it? I think i saw one before

There are a ton of things you could do. Google is your best friend.

if you're getting a poor signal and there are a lot of other wireless networks in the area, try changing the wireless broadcasting channel to reduce interference.

I did this only a few days ago. I had a linksys wrt54g I flashed this with the Linux program dd-wrt. I was then able to set up that router as a repeater and extend the signal all around my house. It is a wireless repeater also so the linksys just has the power lead plugged into it and that's all. You can still buy the linksys routers online on eBay etc. Version 3 is the best if you can get it.

Have used the following from Netgear. Good product - easy to set up and works well but expensive for the wireless version. You could also use the cheaper wired version depending on your requirements

That is expensive and not really worth it I think. You can do the same job as I mentioned above for around €30
