I've been offered two guitars as a trade for my sg, and I can't choose which one to pick, and I need opinions IMMEDIATELY please

The first is an LTD Ec 1000 with EMG 81/60 pickups and here's the ad http://www.adverts.ie/341999

The next is a Roberts Semi-Hollowbody, kind of like a PRS http://www.adverts.ie/384948

I've been offered a hundred quid on top of the hollowbody which will come in handy for my pedalboard and a few other things.

I mainly play punk like nirvana, smashing punkins etc, then some hendrix and led zepplin kinda classic rock, and then indie-rock like the strokes, the kooks, the cure, blur, and then my alt. rock like linkin park and other hardcore-ish bands.

So it needs to be versatile.

Put me out of my bloody misery and say which one you'd choose if there was a gun pointed at you :P

Versatility-wise I'd say the LTD would be your man - the EMG's are very very clear pickups for very decent cleans (even though I'm a strat kinda guy). In saying that though, I wouldn't get the LTD - if you're getting a guitar like that get one with a Floyd Rose... At least then it's always got a use.

The hollowbody looks interesting... But at the end of it they are very different guitars, meaning that you just gotta decide what you want from your guitar!

    Thanks for the advice :D

I'd never get a floyd rose to be perfectly honest, after working in a guitar store and seeing the effort it takes to maintain them, it'd drive me insane.

I've always kinda wanted a hollowbody, i've been trying to convince myself to pick up a squier classic vibe thinline, but then again the LTD's been on my wishlist for a while too.

I'm just afraid the LTD might be a bit too metal/hardcore for my more mellow indie rock and odd classic rock jams and projects, whereas the hollowbody wouldn't seem out of place.

But then that distinctive wood-ish tone from the hollowbody might not work for the more heavy kind of stuff.

    Decisions, decisions.......

Well, the LTD is gonna be better at the indie stuff than the hollowbody is gonna be at metal. It's looks are gonna be the most out of place thing about it

ltd for the reasons paddy outlined above, most suited to the music you play.
    versatile will do it all.

what makes you swap the sg?
