Upgrading Sky+HD Hard Drive

Was thinking of upgrading my Sky+HD drive to a 1TB drive.

Have a few questions before-hand that I can't find answered on the web.

Will any 3.5" drive SATA drive work? Does it have to be 7200 or 5400 RPM?

I also read that it must be formatted in such a way that is not NTFS or FAT32 and must be done with special software and a PC is needed. Can this software be used with a laptop as getting access to a PC to do this is a bit beyond reach for me.

I'm not interested in retaining any old recordings, so the most straightforward swap will suffice.

    Any help appreciated! Thanks.
