Well, you said "Cork", tis a big place boy:)

From the city it's reasonably easy to get to outdoor activities:

There's rockclimbing at Robert's Head near Robert's Cove, and at Knockadoon near Youghal. Ther's even a crag in the city itself, at Beaumont quarry, although with all the broken bottles you'd need to be careful. There is a bouldering area in Douglas, near the swimming pool.

Details of all these areas are on the climbing.ie website. If you are new to rockclimbing there are plenty of training courses available, take a look at mountaineering.ie.

The Nagles Mountains near Killavullen are reachable from the city, and have some nice loop walks; the Coillte website has details.

There are walks and Mountain Bike trails in the Ballyhouras, and some fabulous walks and serious scrambles in the Galtees, these areas can be reached within an hours drive of the city.

West Cork is also in Cork. You should know that, you live in the county after all.

Still, makes an amusing difference from attempting a 'thanks'!
