Channel one at EPG 129 is going to be shut down soon also.

Sky acquired Living TV Group (nee Virgin Media Television, originally Flextech) from its owners Virgin Media (formerly NTL) last year. They've now begun the process of integrating it with Sky's content business, and Sky have took over advertising sales for the channel as of this week (previously handled by IDS in the UK and TV3 Sales in Ireland).

Bravo and Bravo 2 have been closed and their programmes are (mostly) moving to Sky One and Sky Two.

Living will be renamed Sky Living next month and on Sky Digital will be moving to a higher slot on the EPG. Not sure what's happening to sister channels LivingIt and Living Loves, which aren't on UPC anyway.

Challenge is staying as it is until Sky figure out what to do with it. Its not on UPC anyway.

Channel One (previously Virgin 1 and FTN) will be closing. Sky already have a "shop window" channel, Sky Three, but I don't think any programmes are moving there.

Sky Atlantic is launching as a new channel with content from HBO and other US broadcasters. Some Living TV Group programmes might move there. As yet no third-party carriage deals (in either the UK or ROI) have been anounced for this channel.

Sky make only 15% from advertising. So anything that doesn't seriously help subscription sales will close. Also more channels to an extent dilutes the Advertising pot.

So good summary icdg and thus unlikely much new channels on Sat and more to close. So where will "Real Digital TV" find exclusive content?

On UPC with launch of 100Mbps+ Broadband and more HD, again it's sums on subscribers that will decide if they will add more channels. To do so they can close an analogue channel and have space for 8 to 12 Digital channels.

They already offer more channels for less money on Digital, than Analogue only, so you can see Analogue Cable hasn't much future. Given piracy of Analogue and pressure of space I expect them to mislead people and suggest they have to close Analogue at end of 2012 due to ASO. They don't. They can run analogue forever if they want as long as they are offering Broadband and Digital of sufficient quality.

Curses; Bravo I can do without but Channel One carries all the
old timer Star Treks. Thanks for the info. HNY.

If you can have a satellite dish, CBS Action shows the original Star Trek and it's free.

Ironically the 3 CBS channels are joint ventures with UPC's parent company.....yet UPC removed the only CBS channel from their line up to make way for FX

Sky Atlantic - possibly going to be available on Sky only ie not on Cable

judging by the billboards Id say thats a given,, not much chance of upc getting it.. They'd really want to start to pull the finger out regarding there tv service.. Hd content is rubbish..

On the Dublin EPG both 508 & 509 remain - with 508 now encrypted.

Seems odd unless they have plans for 508 ??

Feb 1st will see 708 & 129 blank as well
