New press laws just introduced last week gives the Hungarian Government authority to impose heavy fines for press coverage that it considers unbalanced or offensive to human dignity or common morals.

This sounds too much like our own blasphemy laws. :p

Do not take it too seriously. The long waited new right-wing government sweeps out the old communists and their hanger-ons from key positions, finally. It is time to have a real regime change. The only similarity with Ireland that the banks have too much power - just like all around the world, but Mr. Orban (Hungarian PM) was brave enough to make banks pay for their greediness and initiated a new tax for banks. Now, many European country copies/follows this step. In Ireland still the poor must pay.

That long "new" right-wing government is the "old" right-government ruled between 1998 and 2002.Its members started off poor and ended up very rich somehow, including Mr.Orban and his family ;)
That right-wing party is full of ex-communists as well,so there is such a thing in Hungary as "our communist" (right-wing parties) and "your communist" (left-wing parties). And the funny thing that there is a thing as "our bankers" and "your bankers" as well :D
They are all the same and they all play the same game with each other behind the scenes. It is a small country,so they have to...

Trust me I know as I was raised there.
The way they run the country is a disgrace, even the people voted for them are disgusted now.
Mr.Orban wants to prove it that he can pee against the wind, but soon he will realize that he is lacking of the necessary bladder pressure :D

No offense gibbon75, but your opinion seems to be immature or simply you just acquire your information about Hungary’s political situation from international news. On the other hand, I had similar feelings back in 1998 and thought that the less bad party won the election and there weren’t big differences between the options. Later I was proven wrong about it. It is undeniable, that the current (and the 1998-2002) government is strictly against communism. During their first four year mandate they were not able to stop this disease although they clearly said that at least an eight year programme is needed to have results.
This time, the FIDESZ-KDNP coalition makes radical changes, just like the Czech politicians done right after the Russians left their country. They really had a regime change what Hungary is missing since 1990.
As a part of this process they made a new Media Law. Its communications was a huge and painful mistake ballooned by the European Union and the “communist’s hangers-on” - mentioned in my above post. Orban’s government is attacked very similarly to the Slovenian one, when they had presidency of EU. It is a tradition. The old EU-member states must attract the newbie’s attention that they should care about their own problems and let the EU-parliamentarians enjoy their overpaid and unpredictable role.
In fact, there were aggressive attacks against the new law before it was translated into different languages. France and Germany has already apologised for their inconsiderate diatribe. The new Hungarian Media Law does not contain anything which cannot be found in other EU-member countries’ Media Laws.
Finally, I would be really surprised if you could show me at least one poor or suffering politician. They all take what they can, but some of them do something for their country, as well.
Mr. Orban and his cabinet want to prove that Hungary still has potential and there can be, there will be a brighter future. The way they run the country is rebellious, risky, epoch-making, and it sets the course. The vast majority of the people voted for them are satisfied and emancipated. There are some of course who controversially want to see enormous economic changes in max. 100 days time period, while afraid of any changes. And the group of blindfolds - mainly uneducated oldies - who prefer rancor to thinking and listening.
    Cheers,
    A.F.

Yes,I'm the immature who learned no to believe any politicians (especially a hungarian one...).
And you are very naive if you think it is really Orban and Co. who are running the show...
Our national curse is that we always cry about the past and about the fecking communists, rather than looking and moving forward (just listen to our National Anthem...)
But that is an excellent tactics to blame the communists/Jews/etc. for everything, because that is what the ordinary Joe wants:someone to hate.

Sure you can come up with bullcrap likes the Szechenyi-terv and pass more money to your buddies, but that's hardly going to create 1 000 000 jobs as they promised.I could promise that as well, would you elect me then?
They proved it between 98 and 02 that they aren't any better than the "communists",but even more arrogant

BTW don't tell me that I should get my news from the insane Nazis like Istvan Lovas and kuruczinfo

But if you are big Orban fanboy just move to Hungary and enjoy it...

Tell me how is this a regime change when you aren't willing to get rid of the communists amongst you own gang???

"insane Nazis", "Jews", "communist among your own gang", "Orban fanboy".
    You really like to hate.
It does not make any sense to exchange our opinions in this case, because you seem to be satisfied with encor and spite. Additionally, I do not have the interest or determination to convince you that life has a bright side, as well. I could list facts against your weak diatribe just like
the new Audi and Mercedes factories to create jobs, but it is not worth arguing about when you have so strong anger in your heart.

I hope you will realize one day that there are other colours than black and white (or in your case black and black) and the political situation in Hungary has been evolving to smoething better under the current goverment's wing.

PS: I can’t wait moving to Hungary :p

Thank you for your time and opinion, cheers,
    A.F.
