Hi everyone, just a quick question, i'm self employed, have been for the last year but business is slow so i am selling up. I am looking for work right now but as ye all know it's not easy. Can i remove myself from self employment and start collecting the JSA? And if i can remove myself from being Self Employed how do i do it?

    Thanks in advance.

If your a sole trader its relatively simple you fill in a TRCN1 http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/it/forms/trcn1.pdf

    Hope this helps

You're claim for JSA will depend on how many stamps you had 2 years ago and more importantly what stamp you paid. I'd been self employed since Mid 2007 and gained employment back in October initially for 2 months but I'm still there and looking good so I'll be filling out that form too and getting it back to them. Haven't yet made a tax return for 2009 so hopefully when I do get it done I won't be penalised, the amount I earned wasn't enough to pay anything other than the PRSI contribution.

I'm wondering will I get hit hard ? Haven't got anything to give anyway, just surviving week to week, reckon it will tax 12/18 months in the job to get back on a right footing ........ and I know I'm lucky believe me !!

Self-employment , never again for me anyway.
