Hi, I bought an ipod touch about a year ago while in the US and it's been working perfectly up to about two weeks ago. The battery died and I haven't been able to charge or switch it on since.

i've tried holding down the home and power buttons together, used a plug in charger, different cables and different pc's to try and charge it but no joy.

the warranty is up on it and the repair costs quoted on the apple website are as much as it cost me to buy the thing in the first place!

    any ideas?

Probably it's stuck in dfu mode. Try and leave it for a full day pluged in a wall charger. After that try holding the power+home button. If these things fail try and connect it to a windows pc and see if any sound comes on when you connect it.
