The ALDI compressor is quite good. I have one. The inflator attachment that comes with it isn't. Best to dump that OP, and go buy a Sealey inflator for 40/50 Euro, sounds like a lot, but its a product you'll have for life.

you mean the one that is actually attached to the unit? thanks for teling me that. saw a foot pump in tesco for 8 euro. all the ones in the service station are either broke, missing or i cannot use them. anyway they say they tyre should be checked cold don't they

Sorry sorry, my bad. NYD Hangover in full swing obviously - I thought you actually had a compressor, airline and inflator attachment, not an all in one unit. Disregard everything I've said, I'm going for Coffee. Brain no workey.

OP is the valve on the compressor hose in the open position when you are inflating?

I have a german pump that requires the valve lever straight instead of in the 90 degree position when pumping, like in this pic:

closed it as per manual. just inflated a football with it so must be working

If you want a decent pump get a branded one from a factors.

I wouldn't trust an Aldi compressor for inflating a kids balloon. :)

Chances are the connection of the compressor isn't connected to the tyre properly. Happens my one sometimes.
    Try again.

With the compressor off and the clip in straight position press it firmly onto the valve and you should hear some air from the tyre rush out.
Now push the lever down parallel with the pipe.
Now turn on the compressor again but keep a close eye on the gauge. If it starts shooting up fast the air still must not be going into the tyre and you better turn it off quick before something bursts.

If that doesn't work I have no idea.

    +1

Compressor is not getting air beyond the tyre valve, and is buiding pressure in the pipe only, hence the gauge goes up.

I have one of these, very useful, works fine. In general I find the Aldi tools are perfectly fine for occasional use, and are good value for money.

Looks more like a faulty valve.

Have the Aldi compressor that PD thought you had and can vouch for the cr@ptacular nature of the tyre inflation attachment that came in another kit I purchased, while it works the accuracy is not there.

Thanks guys I bought a small foot pump as its is easier anyway than having to charge the compressor each time

I bought a cheapo one of these in Halfords a while back for emergencies. Works ok but is very slow especially if tyre is completely flat. Pumps much better if you jack the car up so there's no weight on the wheel.

yes mine is only for topping up tyre slightly dowm. can never get any good of ones at garages. anyway doing them at gargaes they are not cold which i understand they should be

If it wasn't correctly connected, how would it read the pressure at all? Would it not just leak air?

Do you set a target pressure and it inflates to that? If so, maybe the pressure is already above the target?

If you're feeling creative, do what my uncle did, and make an air compressor from two gas cylinders, a washing machine motor, and an air pump!

I dont agree. Pumping tractor front wheels with weight on is impossible with the pressure coming back through the pump whereas jacked up, its easily manageable.

I think thats a slightly different than a regular car or van.

rediculous. you are still pumping to the same presure.

or pumping to the wrong conclusion:D? Sorry could not resist

Now the foot pump was fine at the start now when i fit it the air just come out of the tyre even when pump clasped tight. Is it pump or is it the valve?
