Hi folks, my phone keeps rebooting when ever I put it under any amount of pressure an
d I think its a problem with the motherboard. Basically, I need to send it to HTC to check it out.

Problem is I had it rooted and s-offed, I have now unrooted it but with the standard English unbranded RUU. It was originally branded by o2 Ireland. Does anyone have an RUU for this or do you think it will present a problem if I send it back as is?

I'm having the same problem as you op, anytime I do anything taxing on my desire it restarts until it cools down. I'm rooted and wondered I'd you could share the link to unroot your phone :-) my desire was also o2 phone :-(

Edit would this be better? It's o2 UK

    take your pick from here

again i dont reckon you'd have to get the specific O2 branded one, just an official release will suffice

Hi there, this is the one I used

    RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4. 06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.exe

Yeah, my phone is getting worse. As soon as I start a You Tube video, it goes into a boot loop and the only way to stop it is to pull the battery. The only reason it was usable at all was because I was using a very frugel Oxygen Rom but its worse than ever now I'm back on Sense Android 2.1.

It seems to happen mostly when using 3G, its not as bad over wifi. Anyway, there is plenty of evidence out there to suggest this is a common problem. I'll ring HTC on Tuesday. Whatever you do, dont bring it into the o2 shop, they dont have a clue what they are doing, certainly in my local branch anyway.

edit: you will need a gold card to run the RUU, let me know if you need any help with this

Thanks for your help I used this ruu and it's worked ok , so is that all I have to do to unroot it?

Yep, that's pretty much it as far as I'm aware

I was having the exact same issue - O2 branded Desire which was rooted, getting more and more restarts over last few weeks. Tried a few RUU's without success (some just wouldn't work, one worked but had no wifi). Loaded this one last night: RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.2_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_151783_signed

Been using internet a lot today trying to get problem back, but strangely enough it's been working fine! I think this basically means I can't get it fixed under warranty, and can't root it again :( Will see how it goes for a while, may have to figure out tasker to get some of the features I had with modaco rom.

Not sure if it's coincidence or not but I started using the latest swype beta around the time the problem started. Anyone else with restarting problem using this?

Why can't you root again? I reverted to a WWE Rom a while back (2.1) and just unrevoked root again.

probably could, just reckon I'll have the same problems again with the phone restarting whenever it's asked to do a bit of work.

Same thing happened to me tipperary, I've been trying to crash the phone all day but it seems like the problem is fixed.... so it wasn't a hardware fault.

But it is still early days.

osnola ivax could you flash this ruu and see if it helps you too?

cancel that - it just crashed while playing a racing game. definitely performing much better than when it was rooted though. Must contact HTC and see what the story is with a repair, how long it will take etc.

Does anyone know if o2 will give a replacement android handset while the desire is being fixed?

Still not working, going to send it off to HTC . Has anyone sent a phone back to HTC, how was the process?

My first repair took three weeks in total, second time only two. Call 01 696 8474 for your ticket, print it out and send by GLS (cheapest with €500 insurance).
