I recently bought the game Football Manager for my Pc and installed it but everytime I go to run it a blue screen comes up saying it's dumping physical memory to disk or something. It's only stays up for a few seconds so I can't read everything it says. Something about the driver. I am totally clueless about it. Could it be a virus? I have plenty of memory on my computer so it isn't that. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. :o

More info (e.g. computer make/model, Windows version, Football Manager version etc.) would help but it doesn't sound virus-related.

It's an Advent 7113, 1 gig of RAM, windows vista, the game is the latest version, Football Manager 2011. If you don't think it is virus related, could you tell me the most appropriate forum to seek advice.

Is it only when you run the game that you see this error? Is the game patched to the latest version (maybe check the manufacturers website for an update, or was it bough using an online system like Steam)?

If it's not virus related I'll move the thread for you.

I bought a physical disk but I chose to install it online which meant registering with Steam and running the game through that as I wanted the latest patch and didn't know how to do it manually. The problem only occurs when I try to run the game.

Could be lack of RAM tbh.

Doesn't sound like a virus but there are a few steps you can try to figure it out.

Firstly I would update as many drivers as you can from your laptop manufacturers website.

Run windows update to get all of the latest OS updates.

Diable Automatic restart by following the instructions here:
    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windowsvista/ht/arestartvista.htm

On the same window make sure that the option "Small memory Dump" is selected from the drop down menu.

Now when you run he game again the Blue Screen will stay there (Hold the power button for about 10 seconds to shut it down).

This will give you plenty of time to take the full error message down.

A dump file will be created and saved in the folder "C:\Windows\Minidumps" make sure to upload the latest file from here when posting your error message.

The drivers for that model are here:
    http://www.uniwill.com/UserDownload/l51ii/l51ii.php
They are for XP and Vista so only download ones with (Vista) after them.
