Riello RDB 2.2 Not Firing & Mositure in housing!!

I I have a Warmflow Condensing Boiler with A Riello RDB 2.2 burner recently installed in November of this year. Its a combi system for bot hot water and central heating. I'm not an expert when it comes to central heating!!!

Was having a dinner this evening @ 5.30pm and I heard a strange noise coming from the direction of my outside boiler house. I didn't think anything of it. 7.30pm this evening I put my hand on a rad - lukewarm. I checked the timer - it was still on. All the rads in the house lukewarm also.

I went to the outside boiler it was making a strange noise. I turned off the timer, waited 5 minutes and hit the ON button again.:
    1. The central heating didn't start eventhough the controller indicated that it was on.
    2. Riello RDB 2.2 burner didn't fire even when I pressed the red/start button on the front.
    3. The circulation pump came on.
    4. There was a large amount of moisture inside the housing/casing unit. This moisture had seeped out of the bottom of the casing unit onto the floor of the boiler house. The casing/housing is normally bone dry.
    5. Normally, there is a pipe connected to the outside to take the moisture. This is intact.
    6. The pressure gauge for the central inside the hot press is at zero. Normally, this is around 1.5 bar.

Of all nights of the year for this to happen!!! Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

    How do Folks!
I'm just after trying things again. Turned the CH on at the timer and then tried the red button/starter on the burner. It fired up and started. The system in the boiler house made a strange gurgling sound while operating.

The circulation pump worked as some of the pipes as far as the hot press worked but the pipes that supply the rads or the rads themselves did not heat up. Pressure gauge still at zero. I switched the CH off - The system in the boiler house was still making the gurgling sound!

    Hey JesieJoe - thanks!
I had no burst pipes - I must check the attic for leaks. I don't know how to refill. There is a knob below the pressure gauge - do I use that to refill?

    Thanks!

    Hello folks!,
    1. I removed the burner and examined it - it seems ok.
    2. I put my hand inside and it was dry.
    3. I tried to adjust the pressure gauge - no change at all - even closing and opening the valve.
    4. I started the system and the burner fired. I tried to adjust the pressure again with no joy.
    5. I heard a hiss like sound coming from around the burner. To be honest I don't know if this sound was there before

So it looks like I have a leak causing a pressure drop.Any ideas folks?

    Cheers.

I can't believe that I got to talk to the installer just now!

I described the problem and asked me to adjust the pressure as in the above post. When that didn't work he told me that there is an adjuster on top of this valve. I took off the cap of this adjuster valve and using a screwdriver I very carefully began to adjust this. There was no change on pressure and I didn't hear any flow of water. He told me to be very careful when adjusting both these valves as too much pressure can cause damage! He will have someone here on Monday to have a look at the problem.

well at least boiler in good shape!
the fill valve could be busted so not allowing top up
this is easy fixed but why did it lose pressure in first place?
expansion tank(red tank) bladder could be burst (needs changing)
or it needs to be refilled with air (foot pump)
a lot will become clearer when systm is filled
best of luck and happy new year

    How do folks!,
The system is working again. A lad from the installers came yesterday evening.

Two things combined to cause the pressure in the system to drop:

    1. I have an out side tap that is plumbed into the pipe feeding the header tank. This is QualPex pipe with a valve in the hot press. The installers plumbed into the qualpex pipe to feed the HW system. On Christmas eve I turned off the valve that feeds both the HW system and the outside tap. I didn't want the outside tap to freeze. So no water supply to feed the HW system!!!Very intelligent eh!!? My only defense is that it's a brand new system and I'm just getting to grips with it or maybe I'm just a thicko!!!!

    2. There was a leak in one of the rads of about a pint of water. The plumber said that with this system a pint of water can even effect the pressure in the system.

The main problem was the turning off of the valve. He told me to monitor the pressure on a regular basis. It was back up and running within 10 minutes of his arrival.
