Question about Jailbreaking and Unlocking.

Hi, I am currently on he o2 Network.

I purchased an iPhone 3gs off a guy on adverts.ie.

I was told not to update it via iTunes. Otherwise it will undo the Jailbreak and Unlocking.

I don't mind about the Jialbreak. But as far as I know 3GS in Ireland was originally o2. So it should be no problem?

But just if I did by accident. Can it be undone? Can the phone be re-jailbroken and re-unlocked?

    Thanks.

vodafone sold the 3gs aswell for a little while, best thing to do is just contact o2 and ask them to unlock it, they will tell ya if it was on o2 based on the imei number

Just to warn you, I found out the hard way, O2 will only unlock an iPhone if the original owner requests it. The IMEI is tied to thier account. Unless your O2 youself, you'll probably have alot of hassle to unlock it.

Wait for the Dev Team unlock. Don't update.

By the way, Jailbreaking and Unlocking are fairly hand in hand. I'm not sure you can unlock but not jailbreak. Doesn't make a huge difference anyway, its still against Apple policy.

some posts in the o2 unlock thread and on o2's forum say that the current owner can apply for the unlock, the op is with 02 so thats why i suggested it
