Interesting day at Naas today..first time I've played the course and according to GUI website, there was an open singles on. So booked it online, got there this morning and was informed there was no singles comp but instead a semi-open fourball.
So competitive golf dashed for the day, more than a little disappointed..but in fairness, the girl there did let me play the green fee half price (10e) and the course was very enjoyable on what was a pretty perfect day weather-wise. Looking forward to playing again, hopefully with a scorecard in hand the next time!

Front nine is only so-so. But the back nine is very nice. They usually have open singles 3 or 4 times in the spring/summer, keep an eye out for it because at €20 its a bargain!

I'm a big fan of Naas. It's a proper old school club, and to their credit, the updates have really worked well on the course design.

Yeah, big fan also. Couple of pals are members so I usually play it a handful of times a year. Very enjoyable. Nice and testing but very playable for all handicaps. Signature 11th and 15th (I think, very long par four on back boundary, lotsa bunkers?) would be my favourite holes.

+1 on that, a really good test IMO.

Agreed - a great club and a good test too.

Incidentally, I'm not a member, but I hear that the entrance fee is down to €3,000. It was over €8,000 a few years ago....

I'm not a member either but I heard on the grapevine that you may be able to spread that entrance fee over a period of time too. A few mates are looking into it for the coming year.

Played in Naas on Saturday in an open singles. Course stood up well after all the rain on Friday night. Really enjoy playing this course and great value at €20.
