    Hi all,
please see the attached photos.... lime from the block wall (thats what the stone mason says!) inside the stone seems to be weeping out onto the lacken stone wall that we have at the front of the house.
its a dry joint wall. the mortar is inside the wall so maybe its cement (and not lime!). I have tried to clean it with a tractor driven power washer (its powerful!) and Hydrosan (milking parlour cleaner which is 45% caustic soda) but with no joy.
anyone have any ideas as how to get rid of it?

its eflouresence its caused when water reacts with salts present in the blocks or mortar behind stone it. power washing is the worst thing you could do. it would be better to try and clean it with a wire brush.
