Think i would go with the swift as well ,I have used them a few times and found them quiet good, both in quality and holding zero .

First off I have never owned a Hawke scope just looked through a couple and here is a small bit of info on them.

The one thing that may swing you towards the Hawke scope is that they have for download and balistics calulator, Ballistic Reticle Calculator (BRC), for the PC and it is made to match some of their scope reticals. What this means is that when you know the range you just match it to a known line on the retical.

Ballistic Reticle Calculator (BRC). Try it out it's free and quite good.
A free download here just add your e-mail address

In fact you can use it for just getting the drop for most ammo you use.

    Hawkes YouTube page is here

From the Hawke range of scopes.

had a hawke nite eye on my hornet and changed it a few weeks ago, absolutely useless scope, once it gets any bit dull at all u can't see a thing and it never held zero, but have heard of other guys finding them ok, mine is left in my room now as a big paper weight
have no experience with swift scopes so i can't give you any advice on them
have a nikko stirling gold crown on my .22 and find it good for a cheap scope, how much have you to spend?

I have a Hawke nite eye on my hornet which I got with it, and no problems with it. I have a fixed power (4) mount master AO by Nikko Stirling on the 10/22 and I must say I have no problems with that one, its very good.

i must have been unlucky so, but it broke my heart and i'd never buy or recommend hawke again after it, although due to it being so unreliable i went off the beer for a while and bought aschmidt and bender and even though i havent used it much yet i think i'm in love with it:D

cheers guys at the moment my budget is about 350. i was looking at a hawke with the sr6 or the sr12 reticule. i was also looking at a swift it will be going on a tikka t3 varmint in 243 got it mainly for foxes. cheers for the help any further ideas would be most welcome

im in the same both i thought swift was a 100 euro roughly more expensive than either the hawke or nikko sterling now some lads say hawke are **** but most lads that have actually used them think there good enough no probs at all. now i haven spoke to many lads that have used nikko but the couple i have spoke to say there good aswell. serious shooters have serious scopes a friend of mine has bushnell 6x24x50 i heard about this sight for weeks when we went out i had my 3x9x40 up on the gun i could even tell you the make of it but my shootin was every bit as good. ok bigger magnification you could see the target better but it didnt affect my shot. maybe dark or dusk conditions i might see a difference. decisions. decisions

If you have a budget of €350 then have a look at the Bushnell range of scopes. IMO they are the best of the mid range priced scopes. I have 3 and my son has 2.

i had a swift 3.5-12x56 premier and i used on my .223 and .308 and it worked flawlessly. the glass was very clear and i only traded it in against an ior that was going for the right money

here it is on my tikka

i have a hawke sidewinder 30 on the tikka now and it is also a very good scope for the money. i like the tactical turrets and they work well

    I buy second-hand from the UK. I have 2, 6-24x50 4200 elite tacticals one @€;425 the other @€;400 and a 10x40 3200 elite tactical got for €125 all in great condition and a 6-18x50 Matte Multi-X Trophy for €175.

SO theres good value to be had if you know where to look. Just took my time and waited untill the right scope came up.

    The BAY is one
and airgunBBS.co.uk the other but there you must create an account and sign in as you did here on Boards.ie to view the site. Check at least once a day as the scopes sell quickly.
Example was a "Bushnell Elite 6500 HD 2.5-16x42 As BRAND NEW BOXED ;400" now sold but great value. Price that scope new here in Ireland. I would say near to €1000.

And set up a PayPal account if you don't already have one (you need a credit card), it's an easy to pay for stuff that way.
