What does it mean for a politician to "jump ship" - surely if they choose not to run for election again that is their choice, or you believe they should serve life terms in their offices?

For sure I would say most Politicians should never serve a life term in office .. But it seems to me that Most Try..

and indeed it's their choice not to run again...

Seems to me over the last few Months more "Professional" Career Politicans have decided they have served "The State" and it's time to spend more time with the "Families" etc.

So my Question Stands.. CAN WE Legally Change the terms of their Current and Future Pensions

One of the Reasons I ask is ...

My Pension has been Changed ... (I will now get a State Pension now at age 68?) ..

When a career politician suddenly decides to not stand in a coming election co-incidentally at a time when they are highly likely to lose their seat, then they have jumped ship.

As for the pensions, I would imagine there is some form of contract law out there that would make it difficult to prise anything out of their greasy hands.
