    For me it's:

    1. Sehwag
    2. Sangakarra
    3. Trott
    4. Tendulkar
    5. Pietersen
    6. Kallis
    7. Dhoni (cap)
    8. Swann
    9. Steyn
    10. Anderson
    11. Amir

Hard to leave players like Smith, De Villiers etc out

    1. Gayle
    2. Smith (cap)
    3. Kallis
    4. Tendulkar
    5. Hussey
    6. Chanderpaul
    7. Haddin
    8. Steyn
    9. Swann
    10. Morkel
    11. Aamer

Likewise difficult to leave out Anderson, Zaheer, Yousuf, De Villiers, Dhoni. Closest decision was between Morkel or Zaheer.

Based not just on number of runs or wickets but on its significance during a particular match my test X1 for this year would be...

    Sehwag
    Smith
    Trott
    Tendulkar
    Kallis
    Laxman
    Dhoni (Capt)
    Swann
    Steyn
    Khan
    Anderson

    12th man: Amla

    - Smith (Capt)
    - Sehwag
    - Yousuf
    - Tendulkar
    - Kallis
    - M.Hussey
    - AB de Villiers
    - Haddin/Sangakkara
    - Steyn
    - Swann
    - Akhtar, if Aamer is allowed I'll go for Akhtar, since it's based on 2010 I'll go with Anderson,

I went with the 3 outright bowlers, and used Kallis/Sehwag as the fourth and fifth options, with Sachin throwing the odd over in...

Can't really do something like this unless you define what "best" you are referring to. There are some great players out there that would walk into a "World XI" team based on their overall career, but would get no-where near if you are just looking at 2010 performances - Ponting being an obvious example

Are you simply looking at 2010 performances?

I was looking at 2010 matches only

Laxman IMO deserves a place in the XI and its surprising to see that he's not featured more prominently.

    My choice would be:

    Sehwag
    Smith
    Trott
    Sachin
    Kallis
    Laxman
    Dhoni(Capt)
    Steyn
    Swann
    Anderson
    Zaheer

    Sehwag
    Smith (C)
    Trott
    Tendulkar
    Kallis
    Amla
    Sangakkara
    Swann
    Zaheer Khan
    Steyn
    M.Morkel

    12th man Laxman
Other than South Africa, India and England shows how weak world cricket is at the moment.

Asif and Amir should'nt be considered. Such a shame because one if not both would get in the team.

Xavier Doherty was unlucky to miss out.

    - Haddin/Sangakkara

No way could Haddin ever beat Sangakkara into the World XI on either batting or glove skill.

    My XI:

    Smith (c)
    Sehwag
    Trott
    Kallis
    Tendulkar
    De Villiers
    Sangakkara
    Swann
    Steyn
    Zaheer
    Anderson

I was told this was based on 2010, and I put Haddin in there based on The Ashes, he has played brilliantly in a team where others have fallen around him...
