    Hi all,

I realise this forum is more geared toward people who run out and about in the real world, but I'm looking for suggestions on what to buy to wear to the gym (treadmill) and was wondering if anyone could help?

Pretty much, I'm looking for something to wear under tracksuit pants that will leave me comfortable? I had a pair of shorts before I used to wear that were grand, but I don't know what material they were at all.

Came across these "Sprint Shorts" on startfitness, but I don't know what Sprint shorts are..

    http://www.startfitness.co.uk/product.asp?P_ID=38539&V_ID=159022&strOptions=5613&strPageHistory=basket

But from looking at the picture, they seem to be made of a material that won't cuase issues? (i realise that's a poor way to make a judgment, but i have nothing else to go on).

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Cheers :)

    Lycra :)

I own a few pairs of these babies: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ronhill-advance-powerlite-short-aw10/ . A tad bit revealing like all Lycra shorts but I found them essential when doing marathon training mileage. No problems with chafing whatsoever with wearing them and no messing about with Vaseline/Bodyglide/whatever.

    Cheers Stark.

Don't suppose you'd know if the shorts i linked to would be any good? (or anything on that site? I plan to order off startfitness, so i'd like to try and find something on that site if possible, before spreading orders out and costing myself more on shipping costs).

I don't know what material the sprint shorts are, but from looking at the images they seem to look similar to those you linked to (again, i realise that's a bad way to make a judgment, but a search for lycra only returned swim hats on StartFitness).

Wear a pair of shorts on their own, without the tracksuit pants over them?
It's the tracksuit that's causing the chafing, most likely.

I'd say it's my morbidly fat thighs that are causing it.

I always wore tracksuit pants. As i say, I had a pair of shorts before that i wore under them and never really had any issue, but now that they're dead and gone, I need a replacement.

I went ahead and bought the ones i linked to in my opening post. Will see what they're like when they arrive. Hopefully they'll do the job and I won't be too fat for them.

    Either way...

    I'll be back.

I feel your pain friend. If it's because of your weight you might want to look into the Canterbury rugby range of shorts. A lot of specialised running apparel is geared towards the slim gym runner whereas a lot of the rugby range are designed to suit the likes of John Hayes and Adam Jones, stout men indeed. You'll find that they're even extra thick at the crotch. Very comfortable to wear and they hide under your average pair of football shorts.

I just thought I'd post ye olde update.

I got those ones that I linked to from StartFitness and they are excellent. Admittedly, I've only worn them twice in the gym so far, but they've been grand and comfortable. No chafing with them, at all, at all.

I wear these under my tights or tracksuit bottoms. They do the trick.

I also have a stick of BodyGlide but I haven't used it since I started wearing these.
