Looking to buy a range cooker for our house and was wondering if this seems like a good deal

    http://www.currys.ie/Product/BELLING-Country-100DFT-Dual-Fuel-Rangestyle-Cooker-Charcoal/296336/317

The Food & Drink forum was the only place I could think of posting this, so hopefully somebody might have some info for me!

Edit: Apologies, there is a Home Appliances forum so if one of the mods could please move this for me that would be great. Save creating topic again

Yes, its a very good price for that cooker.

However Belling have been upgrading their cookers during 2010 so you'd need to check if thats an older model or one of their more recent models.

Belling are part of the Glen Dimplex Group and if you look at www.dimpco.ie you can see their Irish suppliers etc. Apparently the service on Irish products is excellent because of the Glen Dimplex connection.

We're looking at an electric range and fridges/freezers from Belling

would it be a bad thing if it was an older model? Have you heard negative things about older models?

I've heard nothing negative about Belling which is why I'll be buying Belling.

But if its an older model, then the discount isn't as good as it seems because retailers are discounting to get rid of the older models first.

Check out Harvey Normans. They stock Belling as well. See if you can match the price or better.

I inquired about this cooker, and all was looking good to purchase it when I noticed that it does not have an LPG option, so cannot use standard barrels of gas to cook with. Shame, thought I had a bargain there!

    Pity :(

Would you consider an electric version? We're looking at the 90cm one with the 4 shelf oven on the right hand side and the 5 rings on top.

I've just bought one of these. It must be a mistake on their website, the cooker is convertible and I'm told the kit comes with it.
    More info here: http://www.rangecookers.co.uk/belling-country-classic-100dft-product,2219.aspx
I rang Dimplex just to be sure and they will post out a kit for €35 delivered.

Are you sure about this? What did the people in curry's say about it?

Where did you buy it? If a kit comes with it why are you paying Dimpco 35 quid for it?

    the sales person in currys

You must check yourself that the conversion can be done -easiest way to do this is to look at the silver rating plate at the back of the cooker -it should say 20mb for natural gas which is normal -if it's able to be converted In this country it will also have 37 mb somewhere on the rating plate -if not don't do conversion - it might be ok elsewhere but not here -that's why kit is ordered separate puts the responsibly on you rather than the retailer or manufacturer

I bought it in Currys. I'm not, I wanted to make sure it was convertible, so while I was in the shop I rang Dimpco, gave them the model number and they told me they could send out a kit for €35 delivered.
