    Hi,

Just looking for honest feedback on the venues for weddings in the Ballina, Mayo, area - Downhill, Mount Falcon, Beleek, Ice House, Diamond Coast seem to be only venues.

Downhill would prob be our budget range, but just wondering would it be worth it to push ourselves to go for Ice House, Beleek etc?

    Honest opinions/advice welcome.

    Cheers

    Hi.

Have a look at the Ocean Sands in Enniscrone. Were having our reception there in april and got a really good deal. It was €42 per head but that also included wine and a hot evening buffet. I had a good look around sligo and mayo and this was the best value to be had IMO. The Mcwilliam in claremorris also had a similar deal, but we thought the room was too big for our party of around 200 people.

Was in the Diamond coast and Ocean Sands, both very enjoyable and food was very nice in both.

Sister got married in Belleek a few years ago and it was great.

It's a bit different to the likes of the Diamond Coast etc. in that it is olde worldy and all that and the surroundings are wonderful, we had a splendid time.

Hear Mount Falcon is pretty awesome also, cousin got married there a few months ago, and heard nothing but good reports.

Got married myself in Markree Castle in Sligo around 3.5 years ago. Had a great day, but the quality of the big day don't guarantee a whole lot.....

I've heard very good speak about them both. The Diamond coast was lovely, but a little out of my league. I have to say though the honeymoon suite in it is unbelievable. Still I was going more for value than anything else.

have you been in or eaten in the downhill recently? my mother and father in law were at 2 weddings there during the summer and said the food was awful, and coming from them that says a lot! also, and of course this could happen at any venue at any time so it not meant to sound alarmist but at one of the do's a guest had their car robbed from outside the door. and that's not the first time i've heard of where guests had their cars broken into, so obviously the howayas are waiting in the bushes. if i was considering that place i'd be asking the hotel what sort of cctv system they have...

I'd stay away from the Downhill too.
If I was you, and if I could manage it, I'd go for Mount Falcon.

Downhill seems to be a no go so. We havent been in it, I just know it gets a lot of weddings in the area. Prob because of the lack of choice. Thanks for the feedback folks.
