I am currently 2 years into the restoration of my 67 mustang. I am not that far off paint and i want to start looking for the right people to do the job.

I am in the North east, Louth area. Ideally I would like someone close by but will take it to whereever it needs to go.

I am under no illusion that there is another few hundred hours of prep work before paint and all the challenges of painting it black.

I would appreciate any names of experienced painters that may be interested in taking it on.

    Thanks,

How I bought it in the USA

Wow, that is a lot of work, well done to you! I got mine repainted about a year ago, but I'm not sure that the place I got to do it would be set up to the amount of work you'd need. Let us know how you get on.

Have had a few cars painted by Carcraft in North Stand in Dublin. Excellent service, very professional. A chap called Shane runs it, decent bloke.

Edit: Did you consider converting her to RHD? Quite a easy job with the stangs would make life a lot easier on this side on the pond.

Thanks for the link. I will get in touch with them next week.

Regarding the RHD, I did consider it but after looking into it i decided not too. You have to completelly replace the dash sheet metal, then there is alot of custom work for the delux interior, most of the big shops in the US charge $10-15k for the conversion. That'll give you an idea of the amount of work it takes. I would consider it if i did another one.

After all the mods and upgrades it was one thing I could live without.

428 (7 lt) completely rebuilt pushing out 430-450hp
    Tremec 5 Spd gearbox
    9" rear with 3.55 LSD
Fully adjustable coilover suspenion up front
    Rack and pinion power steering
    Willwood power brakes all round
    Eleanor bodykit
    Delux interior with leather seats
    Movie correct PSE Eleanor wheels
    Central locking
    Alarm
New modern loom with blade fuses
    Morel sound system
    etc,etc etc

Outstanding car, do you have any videos of that 428? I love hearing them rev

I have not started her yet. Thats the plan for january!!!!

Here is video of the actual car in the last pic i posted. It was built by a guy called Richard in Texas. He spent $45k on the engine alone. It pushes out over 800hp. This is what i consider car porn....

Sweet, good call getting the suspension overhauled. All the american cars I have driven feel not only stupidly soft but also dangerously bad in corners.

yea, i have driven a 65 mustang and it felt more like a boat....hence spending $$$ on the suspension.

Richard still has his car for sale. He has dropped the price to $189k. This car is the pinnacle of Eleanor cars. It has everything!!!! The engine alone was $45k and it pushes out 815hp.

Here is a link to his website just in case you want to buy it.

thats the car! my lord!! that car is so clean that when I first seen that add I thought I was looking at pictures of an autoart model.

Its stunning in black, but Id say the silver as used in the films attract an extra premium??

I was going to run with the pepper gray and black stripes but its a bit overdone now and I'd rather have something a little different. It would not affect resale value unless i went with a crazy colour like green or purple.

Nah, That'd be a bit like the Hertz colours. Its going to be Black with silver strips. (it only took me about 18 months to decide this.....)

Do not let CarCraft paint a full car. They are OK (at best) for bumpers, but i've seen bonnets / doors they've done and they leave alot to be desired if you're looking for a perfect finish - as i'd assume you would be after putting so much work in.

I see post-factory spray jobs almost everyday and almost all of them are terrible. I have come to the conclusion that there is novody in the country who can match a color and/or give a good standard of finish. Most of the concours winning Irish cars that i've come across have been painted in the UK.

I'd agree to a degree. I personally believe the root cause of the problem is that most people are looking to get a full respray for €800 - €1500. The minimum you'll need to spend to get an imperfection free mirror finish is €3000 for a small car.

JohnnyMustang22 I'd be interested in quoting you for this paint job ... though you might want to have a defibrillator at hand when I give you the estimate :D

I absolutely love that car. I fancy first dibs bring it for a test drive once you get it all finished ;).

I'll be following this thread. Best of luck OP.

Dont worry. I have already spoken to several shops and i have gotten some crazy quotes.

I am not looking for a bottom dollar paint job. I am looking for a top class paint job at sensible money.

I know what is needed to get the car the way i want it. 100s of hours.

I sent yuo a PM. Lets talk more.

    Johnny
