Remote central locking not working?.. 04 civic

    I have a 04 Civic sport 3 door hatch but... DEEEP BREATH!..
    When i bought the car i knew the central locking didnt work but i was sure that the drivers side actuator for the central locking needed replacing because when i pressed the lock button (on the spiggot beside the door handle, not the key fob)on the only the passenger door locked.
    So got a second hand one fitted and although when i press the lock button inside the car all the doors lock including the boot, but the key fob doesnt work at all..
    Its really a nuisance because when i lock the car using the key, the alarm is armed and when i come back to unlock it the alarm keeps going off!
    There seems to be something up with the key fob, although the battery and that seems ok because ive tried reprogramming it using the manufacturers guidelines, and it works up until the point that the locks do clunk when i press lock, but when i take the key out to test it the buttons do nothing....
    Sorry ive probably gone on for a bit but think i got it all covered! can anyone shed any light on what my problem is!???

    BUMP!!
    Even if anyone has any ideas on how to disconnect the alarm just until i get the problem sorted temporarily as i need the car for work next week and its such a nuisance coming back to a car that the alarm sounds for 20 seconds as soon as you unlock it!...
