Family Guy - Season 9 DVD Problem

    Hi Folks,

Really odd query but I think I've been duped. Was in Tesco earlier and saw Family Guy Season 9 in the DVD section, long term fan so I picked it up and brought it home. I was about 2 episodes in til I noticed none of the episodes were Season 9 and I'd seen the all. Flicked through the remaining discs and low and behold, seen them all. Its a random collection of episodes from season 7 to 8.

    This is my box cover:

    family-guy-season-9-online-exclusive-includes-script-and-blow-up-doll-in-premium-cardboard-case-25654202.jpeg

However, further investiagation reveals this from a fan site in the US:

    180px-FG_Vol_8.jpg

Which clearly says "Volume 8". Blurb from a fan site:
This three disc set includes the remaining seven episodes of Season 7 (Fox-y Lady - Peter's Progress) and 8 episodes of Season 8 (Road to the Multiverse - Dog Gone). Special features include deleted scenes, a featurette on Road to the Multiverse and Family Guy karaoke versions of some favorite Family Guy musical numbers

I'm tempted to bring it back to Tesco but I'm pretty sure I'll be laughed out of the place. Really annoyed as its clearly not season 9 as advertised.

Thats why I hate Family Guy DVDs they are released completly wrong and it started with Season 4 box set which was released with half of Season 4 so the second half of Season 4 was released as Season 5 and so on . The USA Volume 8 is only seven episodes of Season 7 and the first eight episodes of Season 8 but there smart over there as they don't call it Season 9.

Its false advertising perhaps bring the issue up in Consumer Affairs to see if you can have any come back ?

Yeah, I was fairly duped but it clearly says Season 9. Season 7 and Season 8 is defintely not season 9. There isn't one season 9 episode on the whole box set.

I'll probably bring it back to Tesco's for the principal of it. If it said Volume 8 like it should have, or even given a list of episodes, I would have left it where it was.

Not exactly Tesco's fault, Amazon have the same DVD:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Family-Guy-Season-9-DVD/dp/B0037KLZ3Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1293751296&sr=8-1

Blame Fox for how they compile and define seasons differently in different regions.

Does a "season" of Family Guy officially begin and end on any Irish/UK TV station?

What a crock of ****! Family Guy's seasons/series etc has always been messed up. Even after their hiatus coming back in S4. They even make fun of the DVDs in the Star Wars VI parody.

Sorry you got screwed; but FG's DVDs are usually just half a season (10 episodes?) and are a jumble of old episodes. I'd see that as a clear light to (Yar-ha-har!) Season 9...:pac:

This obviously upset you so I'd print out something from amazon that shows it's actuall S8 and you're so annoyed that it's false advertising and you demand a refund. Kick up a bloody stink and they'll give it to you. Be sheepish about it and you won't. It's a battle of resolve man!

Very true. Its not the money but the principal of it to be honest. Season 9, even on Wikipedia and Fox's site is the new episodes. Its blantant false adversting to call episodes from Season 7 and 8, as Season 9.

And my arguement isn't with Tesco to be clear. Just going to be fairly tough getting a refund.

I feel for you, I've had some similar problems with both Family guy and American Dad DVD sets in the past.

My season 3 set was bought in HMW many years ago and they put the same DVD in there twice, so I was short about 5 episodes. Couldn't even bring it back because I lived abroad back then.

Also felt ripped off when I bought a previous season of American Dad which turned out to have the same Series/Volume issue as you mentioned, i.e I'd already seen every episode.

You're not missing much though, the season 9 of Family guy is a steaming pile of ****. Didn't get a single laugh out of it and this is from someone who loved many of their earlier seasons.
