Hmmm... a goof rule of thumb to stop people buying stuff labelled as Freeview, but not always right as there are a lot of DVB-T MPEG4 processor gear on the market in the UK for Freeview, but you must know what you are looking for (ie read the spec sheets of the TVs)

Anyhow.... if it has to be argos and a 19" you will be okay with these.

    Samsung UE19C4000PWXXU €219

    LG 19LD350 €210

If it doesnt have to be Argos and has to a 19" then these will do (powercity).

WALKER 19" 50HZ LCD SAORVIEW CERTIFIED TV €159

    LG 19" 50HZ LCD M1962D-PC AEK €199

    SAMSUNG 19" LCD LE19C350D1WXXU €219

The 20" Samsung SyncMaster T200HD for 99Euro in Tesco (assuming you can find one in stock ) is Saorview compatible.

There are two models - Model number LS20TDDSUV/EN is mpeg2(which is the monitor STB refers to :D) and the model number LS20TDVSUV/EN being sold in Tesco which has mpeg4. Both are sold under the name T200HD

Is it pot luck which model you get ?

A guy in the aldi thread recently bought one and returned it. He obviously came out bad on the 50/50 chance. Its a bit stupid issuing 2 specs under the one model name!

i purchased one of the tvs the op posted for the young lad for christmas and i am only after spotting this thread so now i want to return it seen as i will have to get a set top box in less than 2 years time i have the box but dont know where the manual is after the christmas morning madness but will i still be able to look for a refund even with the missing manual

@ STB - I agree it's stupid having 2 differernt spec TV's with the same model name. It appears that only the Mpeg4 version where in tesco.

@ smokin aces - Analogue will be turned of in a years time, no need for the box or manual just return it to the shop. Tell the manager you can't get Saorview (Irish DTT) which has been operational to the public since October (the specs have been known about since 2008) so the TV is useless for you. Where did you buy it ?

All you need is proof of purchase. Can even be credit card statement. A receipt is best, but not mandatory.

It's the sellers option to Repair, replace or refund to make the TV fit for purpose (up to 2 years from purchase) They can't really resell the TV honestly, even as shop soiled, so the manual isn't relevant.
