iphone3gs problem

    My wife has an iPhone 3gs, jailbroken and uses the Meteor network.
    For reasons unknown the device is not responding right when the "phone" icon is pressed on the dashboard. It briefly for a to a blank screen, but for the usual top bar info, and then after a second pops you back to the dashboard.
    Any ideas what this is due to? Or how to fix?

    I tried powering off and on again, tried a hard reset with the sleep and home buttons pressed, no joy.
    Is this the jailbreaks fault?
    Help please!

    Also, it accepts incoming calls and shows no issue with the network, goes online no trouble.

    thats a weird one, if shsh blobs ares saved ya could try a restore using tinyumbrella

    Ah!
    At this all evening!
    Downloaded a fresh ios4.01
    Now itunes won't let me restore!
    Shift-Restore, browse to the appropriate fw, click it, off itunes goes then, poof, error 3014!
    Went online, got all the tips, no joy, feck it!
    It is in 4.0 as it stands, going for 4.01 means I can still use jailbreakme to, well, jailbreak it.
    This is getting ridiculous!

    ya could try 4.1 and then use limera1n to jailbreak, are ya sure ya have blobs saved
    i think ya might need the phone in DFU mode aswell

    Got it working again.
    I tried to restore the phone to a dl ios4.01 but itunes kept bouncing that back, no contact at server, tried updating itunes, used various ip masking tools, deleting, undeleting changes to the host file, still no joy.

    In the end, I used Tinyunmbrella to first save shsh blobs, then run their server, then use itunes to restore the phone, put into recovery first, to the dl'd ios4.01, and it worked.

    It took an awful long time to restore and resync everything, but in the end the phone dialler is back and if I run into this crap again, it'll be a lot easier to fix.

    The sheer amount of crap and guess work out there, masquerading as informed advice is staggering!
