Just wondering can anyone help with this problem.

Sky+ box wont record channels when set. It comes up on planner as "failed".
When i set it to record a channel by myself..it will record;however then you can not view other channels as it says "no sattellite signal is being received".
if i stop recording then you can view channels as normal.

    any help?

First thing is to re-boot it.

Turn the sky box off at the mains for at least 1 minute.
Then switch the power back on and let it do it's thing for another minute.
Press the SKY button and then TV and it should come back on.

Hope it works for you !

Press the services button, go to "system setup" , then select "signal test".

If theres no signal on input 2 (which I reckon there wont be), you need to check the input 2 cable at the back of the sky box which runs to your dish.

yes your dead right...theres no Input 2 signal. have checked the cable and doesnt ssem to be any clear issues; but il presume thats the problem.

The problem is damage to the input 2 cable somewhere along it.

Damn dog chewed through mine last year. I replaced the cable and have not had any problems since. Symptoms were exactly as you described.

If you can get to the dish, check the inputs there also-it could be loose there.

If you can access the dish then you just need is a lenght of coax cable and a pair of connectors for each end.

Edit: yeah, it could be worth checking the dish connection, assuming you can get to it.
