Makeup application in House of Fraser

    Hi all,

I got a House of Fraser voucher for xmas so I'm going to go in and totally redo my makeup. I'm so sick of my 'style' at the moment - I've palish skin, brown eyes and brown hair and all i do is wear eyeshadow, liquid eyeliner and mascara - very boring.

What I'm looking for is a new makeup look that's very natural but will bring out my best features (i think my eyes), that I can wear to work and everyday etc. Also as i'm heading into my 30's I think the old liquid eyeliner every day is a bit too much so I need a new look that's a bit more mature but still young and fresh looking.

Where's the best place to to get some suggestions/make up applications to show me how to get this new look? I've heard MAC are good (I already have their foundation and I love it) but their eye makeup girls put me off. Lancome seems too old somehow, Benefit seem good but are they all gorgeous packaging and no substance? So where would be the best place to go to get my new look?

    Any help is much appreciated!

I'd suggest trying all of them :)

Whenever I'm looking to try something new, I always go to a few counters and ask for their opinions. That way, I figure out what look/s I like best, what products I feel worked best for me, what didn't work etc.

Getting a variety of opinions means you get to test out lots of products, you get lots of tips from different make-up artists which can really help with application at home and you get to see how certain styles of make-up look on you.

If you have any pictures from magazines of looks you'd like to try, bring them in! I do that all the time.

I find MAC to be really good with consultations, but you do have to pay 40 euro (redeemable against products).

Hi Pika, thanks for the suggestions! So i could try them all? If one counter applies an eye make up look, if I go to try another one will they remove that eye makeup for me? I'm so new to all this! :o

That's exactly what I'm looking for - a new style. Which counters are your favourite?

Well, you wouldn't have to go to them all on the same day, but I guess you could if you wanted to!

If you're wearing make up, they'll remove it and moisturise your face for you before applying whatever products you're interested in trying :)

If you want to try a new look, it's always good to have a variety of opinions which you'll get from trying out a few counters and seeing what sort of products etc they have.

My favourite counters are MAC, Benefit, Bobbi Brown & Urban Decay. There's also some really great Clarins counters out there for Skincare too.

I really like the look of Urban Decay so I'm going to try that one first. Thanks to both of you! :)
