Service car before selling?

I'm selling my car soon and it's 1000 miles off being due its next service. Should I service it now or is it a waste considering I'm getting rid of it shortly? I've always traded in before so this is my first time attempting to sell myself.

the car could be on the market for a while before will be sold (unless you will go for a quick sale-cheap) so depends on the value of the car if its worth paying for service.

It's a 04 skoda fabia so not exactly worth a whole lot! Think I'll just get it serviced for my own peace of mind, can't see the market for such a car being that busy!

I suppose that you can see this as a small investment in your safety if you will go for a full service(brakes, etc)

Look at it this way, your buying a new car, you find a couple your interested in, they're similar price, similar spec, one has just had a service, the other hasn't and is due one very soon.

    Which would you pick?

If I was looking at car and it was close to being due a service I would expect it to be done before I bought it, not only is it a courtesy thing, it suggests the owner has at least some degree of confidence in the motor rather than flogging it before an expensive upcoming bill...

That's what I said too but others have told me that I am wasting money doing it. It has a full service history to this point so it would be terrible to stop taking care of it now. It's my baby after all!

if you arent waiting to long to sell the car i would offer the service as a sweetner to the deal.....some people are fussy about things like servicing and prefare to have there own mechanic do the service

Serviced, with an NCT and in good condition you'll sell that in a week or two if it's priced at all reasonably :) Don't accept any looney low offers, tell them thanks but no thanks and be patient.

So pay for a service at their mechanic?

id sell it with the service kit included (new oil, filters, and spark plugs, brake pads if needed)

so new owner will have everything ready to go

its better than tellin somebody that it was just serviced
kit is more confident in my opinion and u're not loosin much
