    Hi there ,
    Need advice quick.
Woke up this morning to find a greyhound in my shed in a hungry/frightened state.
It also appears to be pregnant and possibly in the next few days.

Unfortunately we think it was abandonded along our road.
    No markings/tattoos visible
We'll feed it for but we will not be in a postion to mind it as we are away a lot.

Any ideas on what we should do and the chances of someone taking it .

    Area is Whitechurch in Cork.

    Hi Robbie,

Thanks firstly for helping an animal in distress.

Contact your local vet who should redirect you to your local ISPCA. Or any of the local rescues (I'm not sure what ones are in Cork). One that specialises (prob. not the right word but they would have a lo of experience in this area and with the breed) in greyhounds is A Dog's Life http://www.adogslife.ie/

Martina is the name of the person who runs it and she's brilliant. You can get contact details on the link above.

Best of luck and thanks again.

Hate people who just abandon dogs like that.
    Try http://cspca.ie/
They might be at least able to advise you

Greyhounds are tattooed in both ears, OP. If she isn't tattooed then she might be a Lurcher. Get in touch with me if you can't find a rescue space for her in Cork. She is welcome here.

Just on that....I've seen and transported greyhounds who either had their ears cut off or had acid poured onto the tattoos to remove/disguise them. Both are horrific and to think what the poor dog must go through.

Yes, I have seen that too but they are doing DNA testing now on cases like that, so things have gotten better in that respect.

    That's horrific!!

God, the horrors animals are subjected to by "people" never cease to shock and sicken me. May they rot in hell.

Fair play to you OP for helping her. Hope this one has a happy ending

This rescue specialises in Greyhounds. If you think she is in labour I would get in touch with EGAR soon as possible so mum can get settled into a nice foster space and have an experienced person watching over her when the pups come. Wow poor thing Id say she is terrified. Getting a dog into a rescue is not as easy as many think some will turn away dogs as they are full or dont take certain dogs. EGARS offer is great and to be able to act on short notice like that is so important for mum and the new babies who will be along shortly.

    Thanks all,
Dropped her up to the DAWG sanctuary in Doneraile,Co Cork (with a contribution to take her off my hands!!). It was a lecher who had recently had pups .
She is in good hands now.
