Hey there lads an interesting one for ye here:confused:, My 98 Passat 1.9tdi 110bhp started goin badly there about two wks ago:( thought it was diesel filter but it wasnt. The turbo didnt seem to be engaging, after doing some research everything pointed to the airflow sensor(maf). Changed that anyway but still no change, then washed out the intercooler no change, then changed both N75 solenoids on the engine still no change in performance:(:(. Replaced all the sensors with the original ones and drove the car for a while as i couldnt get it plugged into the computer at the local mechanic to see what fault would be registering on the computer:rolleyes::rolleyes:.

Then today the car was lifeless and without power in the morning:(:( then i went to go to the shop after dinner and its fixed:):), full power has returned:D with all the old parts in place nothing has changed except a new diesel filter which didnt work in the first place and a washed intercooler.
Could the frost of had something to do with the loss in power?
I dont no but im happy can return the Maf and N75 next wk and get my 150euro back:):)

Get it scanned, take it from there. No point replacing everything, without getting that done first.

With everyplace closed for the Christmas Holidays i couldnt get it scanned so i was able to get the parts from a friend. But it seems to have fixed its self with the old parts in place. Overall im delighted:D:D but just curious as to how this could of happened:confused::confused:
Thought it may of been the diesel as well so drove her till she was nearly dry then filled her with new diesel but no change....
Thinking now could have it of been frost or something in the ecu its better now since the thaw is on.............

Some of the diesel in the fuel lines turned to wax with the cold

Im having the same problem with my 04 passat tdi it started on some of the bitter cold mornings during the cold spell car started perfectly and drove but when i put the foot down the turbo just didnt kick in at all, after a few mins driving and and restarting the engine the car drove fine, but now that the weather is back to normal the turbo still acts funny say if i put the foot down on the motorway it will work fine but then the car suddenly loses its power and doesnt accelarate at all and barely picks up speed, would this be a sign of the turbo being on its way out?

That generally is the mass airflow meter but really you would want it scanned with a vag diagonostic tool.
