Huge spike in data usage

    Just wondering if anyone can work out what is going on here. I woke up this morning to find 3G Watchdog on my Hero telling me I'd gone to 125% of my monthly quota (I'm on the Meteor 1G add-on). I was quite surprised as I've never came close to going over my quota before. I put it down to the fact that I'd been a bit harder on internet use over Christmas so I turned off updates on the phone and resolved to avoid using data as much as possible until the end of my billing period. However, just over an hour ago I discovered that the data usage has actually become heavier since morning, despite updates being turned off. 3G Watchdog is now telling me that I've used almost 2.8 gig for today alone, the figure for the month so far is 3.2 gig! I've rang Meteor but the customer care person was pretty clueless. I assume some app is responsible for this spike but I haven't added anything new in the last few days. Has anyone experienced a problem like this before? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm totally at a loss.

    first things first - disconnect from your 3g - at that rate you will be charged a fortune.

    I've disconnected 3G, thanks.

    And just to add to my confusion, I've checked my account details on MyMeteor which is telling me that I've used 469769kb for December, a much lower figure than 3G Watchdog is suggesting. The data usage for today looks normal enough, there's certainly not a couple of gigs worth. Is it possible that the problem lies with the 3G Watchdog app?

    Did you update 3G watchdog lately? I went onto the market in the last few days and it told me an update was available, try and update it if you can. It sounds like a problem with the app especially if your Meteor usage looks normal.

    No, I'm pretty sure I haven't updated it recently.
