    Cheats :
These only affect split-screen / local multiplayer games and if you've googled Goldeneye Wii Cheats you've already found them...
Big Head Mode <477MYFR13NDS4R3SP13S> (ie. all my friends are spies) - You have a big head. Most people don't die from "Toe shots" so this ups the ante a little!
Tag Mode : NotIt!!!11 - if you have 3 or 4 people it's basically like playing chasing. With guns.
Invisibility Mode : Inv1s1bleEv3ryth1ng - You turn invisible when you run

    Tips :
Only been playing it a few days so this will sound a bit obvious if you've been playing since day one, but on the offchance you haven't...

When you get shot up badly, duck and run - your health recharges if you stay out of trouble and getting killed is actually quite hard (especially on the easy mode) if you keep your head down and stay on the move.

When you shoot someone with a silenced weapon, there a Dan daaan! musical sting - if you hear anyone speaking in the next 3 seconds, look around and kill the bugger before they trigger an alarm.

Read weapon descriptions. There are tonnes of different flavours of each gun - silenced versions, grenades, laser pointers, different sights. Actually that's about it. Don't be afraid to trade up, or down - a cool gun with no bullets is not worth a lot to you.

Speaking of laser pointers, the baddies don't seem to notice them if you have one. But you can spot a sniper from miles away if you look for theirs.

If the game gives you a sniper rifle, don't throw it away. It's there for a reason.

If you get to a door and it says (A) Breach take out your silenced P99 and reload - you'll get a slo-mo entrance, you can pick off the room with well-placed headshots. There's often a hostage that you don't want to turn into crow food.

Got it for 22 quid in HMV on the 3rd. Played nothing but online as that's where I thought I'd spend most of my time.
It's nowhere near as good as Call of Duty:Black Ops, but definitely worth playing if you haven't got that game as well.
I've heard the one player is better in Goldeneye though - I'll have to check that and get back to yez.

With regard to the online multiplayer, once you bring the deadzones down to minimum, the max turn value to about 80, the max turn speed to about mid-range etc, you'll have something approaching CoD but still not quite as accurate. I think where the online falls down on is the levels - they just don't seem to have the same fun as CoD. For a lot of them, camping is actually preferred as you can get away with it a lot given the big space involved - oh and there's another thing, while some levels might seem huge, they still don't seem as big as the smaller CoD ones, I can't put my finger on it really but a few of the levels are "valleys" and while it's easy enough to grab a sniper rifle and camp at the top of either side, you just don't get the feeling of being in a big arena. It has classes like CoD (called loadouts in this game) where you can set up primary/secondary/3 gadgets/perks etc and you get access to new items, the more experience points you get.

All in all, if online multi is more important to you than single or local multiplayer, go for Black Ops.

I haven't played local multi yet - have to wait for my brother or a few friends call over for that.

I am looking forward to the single player though... :)

For 22 quid it does :D
Anyone tried the local multiplayer on it yet wanna report back?

Played the single player tonight and yes, it's the game I knew and loved. Seems harder than the original but it brings back a lot of memories I had forgotton; the security cameras, scouting the areas for all guards before making a move, that uh-oh feeling when you're spotted.....yeah, deffo worth the 22 euro alone!

    Ok, ok.

And now for the most important question.
    Is the soundtrack the same?

    Is the soundtrack the same?

    No

It's not the same game in that respect.
    What's missing :
The music - instead of 101 electro-variations on the Bond Theme you get normal film incidental music. You won't miss the music that much. Except on the snowy bunker level :)
Lego Sean Bean - it's quite disappointing that 006, Xenia, Orumov etc are all played by nobodies rather than horrific angular approximations of people you've seen on the telly. 006 looks like an apprentice green-grocer.
The levels - this is a remake of Goldeneye. Not a rehash. So while the locations are the same or similar, the layouts and goals aren't, really. Or maybe they are and it's just been so bloody long that I can't remember :)

It's quite interesting. It's like they re-wrote Goldeneye as a Daniel Craig movie and then made a video game based on that imaginary remake. They have captured the feel and look of the last few Bond movies quite well.

Well now it's just a massive let down.

The best thing about Goldeneye 64 was the soundtrack.

Disagree. The soundtrack was brilliant but moments such as:

Stepping onto the Dam and actually being able to see to the end (given Turok it was quite a novelty)

Sneaking around the Facility and popping guards from behind

Using the magnet watch to acquire the throwing knives

Trying to figure out Statue Park

    The joy of 4-player multiplayer

Being able to zoom in and out with sniper rifle (again a novelty at the time)

    The golden gun

Being able to mess with the end of level cutscenes (try planting proximity mines in Baron Samedi's end of level path)

The sense of achievement after unlocking 007 mode, invincibility and invisibility cheats.

The list goes on. Goldeneye 007 is one of the few games that I obsessively unlocked everything. It was some achievement for its time!

I had forgotton about the magnet watch...hasn't turned up in the remake yet but I'm just about to start Statue Park now so I'll keep an eye out. The levels are in a different order to the original though.
They completely changed the train level and just at the end, when you have to escape, you shoot off the bolts on the floor - that's pretty much the only bit they kept. There's a level before that though on a building site that is a hell of a lot of fun. In fact, a lot of the new levels are pretty cool. Case in point being the nightclub one - that dancefloor is amazing!
This is the best offline game I've played for a very long time and it's restored my faith in the Wii again.

True, it was one of its many strengths. I used to love the Egyptian track, nice and atmospheric.

One thing I forgot to add to the list was being able to shoot Robbie Coltrane!

Lol, I much preferred the Aztec one myself.

Looking to pick up a few shooting games for Wii and am seriously considering Goldeneye. Glad to hear good things. I wouldn't be big on online play anyway.
