Humming Noise

    05 Skoda Octavia petrol.
    there is a humming noise that appears above 40/50ish kmh
    It dosnt disapear when i knock it into neutral and free wheel.
    Thought it might be a wheel bearing going?
    Anyone any idea what my humming noise is?

    if the noise is in proportion to speed rather then engine rpm, then i would first guess at a wheel bearing
