Hi, wipers on my car not working, need to get a wiper linkage but to buy new will run me close to €200. Car is a 03 nissan micra, looking for second hand linkage, am based in Cork.

Would really appreciate any help, thanks in advance.

Go to a local scrap yard. Are you 100% the linkages are broke?

Not sure what micra linkage looks like.

Fiat Punto the links are joined by a ball joint. The ball joint wears and breaks the link. You can do a Diy job by drilling a small hole in the ball and run a thin piece of steel wire thru. As I say it helped with the punto.

yup, took it to local garage and the fella in there said they were wrecked. when i had googled wiper linkage for nissan micra it was the first hit i think, a common fault with 03 from what i can see...(one of many!)

thanks, might try that. will be on back order if i order new anyway so a temp fix would be handy.

You can get one on ebay for about €40 see here http://shop.ebay.ie/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m570.l1313&_nkw=nissan+micra+wiper+linkage

I came across it the other day when looking for one for an almera. Seems to be a common problem in Nissans! Can't find one for the almera on ebay though!

My mam has a 03 Micra and the linkage has gone twice in 44k miles, first time it was replaced for the 200 euros, 2nd time I did the following temp fix

The linkage fails cos there is a metal ball joint in a plastic socket which wears away and pops off, its pretty easy to remove the wipers, plastic panel under them and the linkage with a basic spanner and socket set, then drill a 3mm hole thru the centre of the plastic socket into the metal ball joint and screw in a self tapping screw to keep them connected, don't screw it too tight as you have to allow some play in the linkage. A decent mechanic could carry out this fix in 30 mins or so. The temporary fix I did has lasted over a year so far:D
