Central locking repair needed - north Dublin

    Hi guys,

can anyone recommend a place to get central locking/electrics repaired in Dublin north?
we have a 2000 seat leon and a few weeks back the key fob stopped working for the remote central locking - no big deal we thought, just needs to be recoded, we'll get it done after Christmas. but in the last 2 weeks, the central locking has given up the ghost! it has slowly gotten worse to the point that now we can't lock the car. The locking system still works from inside, when you choose to lock the doors they lock no problem, but when using the key from outside it either locks all doors but the drivers door, or only the drivers door! to make matters worse the windows have decided to open upon locking the car and sometimes open for no apparent reason!
so we have been leaving the car unlocked over Christmas, but the main worry is the windows opening! we came out yesterday afternoon to find the windows wide open. They were fine an hour before, the doors weren't locked, they just opened of their own free will! the seats were soaked.
We have jammed some paper into the windows to try to prevent this, but its not working.

We need to get it repaired, and for a reasonable price if possible.

can anyone recommend a repair place for this type of work in NCD, preferably around the Swords/Airport area or Blanch?

    thanks!

sounds more like it could be a ccm fault rather than with the key/fob.

best take it to seat, they will doubhtless have seen it a thousand times before and will probably be able to give you a good idea without even examining the car.

Until you get this sorted have you tried the central locking using the boot or passenger door?

yeah, we've tried that. initially we were able to lock the car from the passenger door, or even by hitting the lock button inside and then just locking the driver door manually. but now if we do this at best all doors but the drivers locks, and at worst the windows open automatically!

Will take it to seat if necessary, but from experience the branded dealers usually cost more to do a job someone else can do for half the price. plus getting to a seat garage is a bit awkward this week as the one in blanch isn't open and none others are close by.

if anyone has any recommendations I'd appreciate it.

Have called Ace in Finglas and they said to bring it for a look tomorrow and they can give a price....can anyone advise if they are any good?

i think thats a common mistake people make about dealers really.

seat will charge circa 40 euro for a diagnostic session and will give you a definite answer as to whats wrong. they will have seen it numerous times before, whereas if you bring it to a backstreet garage and they spend hours dilly dallying, faffing and scratching their heads, it will work out far more expensive.

and work carried out at a main dealer, also comes with certain guarentees and warranty, so even in the unlikely event they make a mis diagnosis, they will repair it again correctly for free, which most back street garages wouldnt even consider.

is the passenger side footwell carpet wet?
    just my 2c.

well rang around the seat garages, and none are open for service until next tuesday. The two that had someone in the garage, both said that they had never heard of this problem before and to their knowledge it is not a 'common' seat problem

well it is now since the window keeps opening, but before that, no its not wet. I know the problems seat can have with the water getting in, but that hasn't been a problem for us thank god.
