    Hi guys,

Herself got me a nice Phillips Home Cinema system for Xmas and before I set it up, I thought I'd sound (ha) out some advice. I have the HTS3560/12 (I don't know if that matters) and have a center speaker, two front and two rear speakers.

Now this is all new to me so I was wondering, Is there a specific distance I should be keeping them from each other? they are only about a foot tall, do they need to be raised off the ground? Can the rear ones be beside my sofa or should they actually be behind me?

    Any advice appreciated!

There are plenty of possible layouts, and depending on your setup options you can bend the ideal positions to suit.

Take a look here at the ideal layouts. I have my rear speakers at the side, and the back (6.1) above and behind me. My audio processor allows me to pick speaker distances and size.
