I've decided to travel with one of my laptops to Seoul and the wireless light is constantly orange even when I try to press it to change...nothing happens.

The driver is there and all and I thought I disabled wireless under msconfig but I reenabled everything and after a restart there still isn't a change.

Could you give me a few options that I could try to fix the issue as I can't remember what I've fiddled about with on this laptop. :/

Unforunetly this is a very common problem on a lot of compaqs/HPs around this era. Ive had 2 or 3 go like this on me and its not as simple as driver issues or replacing the wireless card itsself. More than likely the laptop will need a new mainboard(as silly as it sounds!).

Your best option is to probably pick up a cheap USB/PCMCIA (althought I dont think the 511 has PCMCIA slots) Wireless card. A lot easier then replacing the mainboard.
