First time bet on the football

    Hi guys,

I'm going to be doing my first bet on the football on Saturday, and I was wondering how I would do it. Would I be able to do it on a plain betting slip or one of those big coupons they have? I go to Betfred, if it makes any difference...

I bet on the horse racing so I know how to fill out plain bets, but I was wondering if the bookies will accept them on plain betting slips people normally write horse racing bets on?

And would this be allowed if I write it like this?
    Example wrote:
    Football - Birmingham v Arsenal

    Arsenal to win

    £10 win

Also, how would I go on about doing it if I wanted more then one match on the name bet? i.e

    Birmingham v Arsenal
    Man City v Blackpool

Sorry for all the questions. Thanks.

It's the same as placing any bet, you can do it on a normal betting slip.

eg Arsenal to beat Chelsea $10 win at 7/5

    eg $10 double
    Arsenal to beat Chelsea 7/5
Wolves to draw with Westbrom 5/2

    eg $10 accum
    Arsenal to beat Chelsea 7/5
Wolves to draw with Westbrom 5/2
Man Utd to beat Newcastle 4/6
    etc etc

Just make sure everything is clearly written as you would with any bet.

Ah, cheers. Would I write the prices on the slip or would they do it for me? Usually ask for the prices when I write out bets for horses, but I'm not sure if it's any different... :o

I'd always write them on it myself to make sure I get the proper odds although there should be no problem if you don't as the times will be recorded on the bet slip and odds checked accordingly etc.
The handiest thing to do is ask for the football coupon and then fill out your betslips with the prices from that coupon. I hope you have more luck than I do at the football betting.

Heh, cheers. I always go in the bookies on a Saturday and seeing everyone writing the footy coupons. If you can't beat them, join 'em, heh. Thanks anyway, just have to stock up on normal betting slips and fill them out saturday. :)
