Would anyone know if the digihome freeview hd vestel clone will be able to download saorview upgrades that would be issued for the walker wp11 box.
Would the digihome do everything that the walker can do.
Could there be a problem if it did download upgrades meant for another box type
Is the difference only the tuner or is the firmware/software different.
I remember a thread that said different download types were being used for freeview hd and saorview.

Only Saorview certified products would be supported over the air.

Thanks STB, I returned my technika stbhdis2010 to tesco as faulty, which it was and got a refund, so i was hoping to find a box that will do freeview, freeview hd and saorview and be able to keep itself updated. Probably such a box doesnt exist even though the hd and saorview stb,s are closley related.

Both boxes have their own specs.

Saorview is built upon ETSI standards and Nordig Specs+MHEG5.

"Freeview HD" is built upon umpublished UK DBook spec only available to DTG members.

In theory the Freeview HD (DVB-T2) box should do both to the end user in Ireland. A generic DVB-T2 box might not.

If you want both (and live in an area where you can receive both ie on the border or in Wexford a Freeview HD box will do both. A Saorview wont.
