    Hi

My Iphone is just at its year warenty. I'm sending it back to them to fix the headphone socket. One of the tasks they've asked me to do is to back it up then reset it. I said I did this but haven't as it will update the firmware which I don't want to do as it will be more difficult to jailbreak l8r. , it has ver 3.1.3 running at the moment. The problem is stricly hardware so it should not be necessary to update the firmware for this. Can I insist on this or will it be a standard step they will take..?

    Tnks

You may be able to downgrade it when you get it back. If not it can be jailbroken on the latest firmware too so just make a record of all the jailbreak apps you have installed

You may not even get back the same phone, so whether you do it or not, its immaterial. They will wipe your phone anyway if they can fix it.

What iPhone have you got 3G 3GS?. I have a similar problem with an iPhone 4 need to send it back to apple to get the sleep button sorted, but I depend on the unlock.

There saying the 4.2.1 jailbreak should be out soon when is Any ones guess.

But there are untethered jb available, just google your iPhone version and have a good read or just wait till the new jb comes out.

    This^^

If you send your phoen back to apple they will most likely send you a different refurb.

They dont tend to do repairs of your device so much as send youa workign one.

Anyway a first step to clear the device to check the problems would be a clean istall of IOS so even if they did repairs it would be wiped.
