water softner overflowed

Hi Folks, We've had no water since 20th dec. OFCH came back 3 days ago and today our drinking water came back for around 20 mins or so and went off again but nothing from our main tap. Hi Folks,
We've had no water since 20th dec. OFCH came back 3 days ago and today our drinking water came back for around 20 mins or so and went off again but nothing from our main tap. About an hour ago our garage was flooded as it seems the water softner had overflowed????? Dunno how as we've had no water. The gas cylinder thing attached to it has a water level that is usually at the top but now it's only half way. If this is knackered from the freeze would we still be able to get water into our house???
