Ryanair refund

    Hi,

    I would have thought there would be a thread on this topic, but I havent seen it.

    My Ryanair flight has been canceled and I got an email about rebooking for another flight, but its only allow me to rebook the outbound flight. Can this be true that Ryanair are only refunding the one flight ? and not inbound ? as both are now no use to me as I cant fly out to fly back and therefore not use either flight.

    Do you mean that flight0 got cancelled, flight1 did not. You want to rebook flight0 and you are wondering why they wont let you rebook flight1?

    Why is the return flight no longer of use to you?

    I would only expect a rebooking on the flight that was cancelled! I don't see why you expect the return flight to be refunded also!

    He wants the second flight refunded as it is useless I suppose. Ryanair did give me that option, although I made it to Ireland on an alternative route.

    Following the online link it only allowed me to book the outbound flight again, not the inbound.

    I called them up in the end and gave me a full refund for both flights in and out.

    Well you got a result there. Are Ryanair going soft? Actually both flights are mutually exclusive. You could go out on one airline back on another or fly back from another airport.

    Was the second flight cancelled too?

    You have the right to cancel both flights, as we have seen, if booked together because a return ticket is not useful if the original flight is cancelled. Thats always been the case - it is the case for trains.

    On the 9th of Dec I got an email from ryanair aboutThis flight was at the end of January. In the cancellation link, I was told the money would be automatically refunded in 7 days. Still hadn't been refunded when today I got an email saying it'd be another 28 working days to get the refund processed.

    So these jokers have my money, after charging me to pay them and now they want to keep it a bit longer due to their automatic refund process being busy due to the wintry weather.

    If they can deduct the money from my credit card pronto, why aren't they forced to refund it pronto?

    well, great, return flights are refunded with no probs apparently, but seeing as I was flying back through Paris, they will only refund my flight to Bratislava. I'd call them useless, but they're actually pretty good, their customer support is basically designed to scam/rip off, counting on ppl losing interest and believing whatever they have to say. Call centre can only help you so much, for any other refunds/claims, I have to send a fax to customer helpdesk. Ridiculous! I'm going to claim 400 quid for my flight over 1500 km being cancelled just to prove a point.

    Sorry for hijacking this thread but I thought it would be better than opening a new one. I got stranded in London during the recent bad weather and when I went to re-book my Ryanair flight they had nothing available for three days. So I ended up booking a new flight with Aer Lingus from Birmingham. I've already applied for a refund for my cancelled flight, am I entitled to a refund for the other flight that I had to book to get home?

    Meaning you want them to refund/pay for 100% of your journey and you pay nothing?

    No not 100% just the balance the extra flight cost as it was lot more expensive than the Ryanair flight. Because they cancelled the flight I ended up paying 400 sterling extra in travel and accomadtion trying to get home. An expense I wouldn't have had to pay if they hadn't cancelled.

    If they give you a refund for your cancelled flights, and they pay for 'the balance' as you put it then Ryanair will have paid for your flights home, and your accommodation.

    I can't see it happening.

    If you opt for another way of arriving at your destination other than that which you had originally planned, your airline is not liable. In other words, because you didn't avail of what Ryanair offered to you, they don't have to pay you a cent.

    OK thanks for the info. I just wasn't sure what my entitlements were.
    I'm still entitled to claim for my one nights hotel accommodation though,aren't I?
