contemplating using either Dublin airport or Heathrow for travel in the future

I am from Cork and am thinking of travelling to Istanbun in March/April. I have always used Dublin airport for flights I can't take from Cork. But I have calculated there is takes 3 hours to get to Dublin by train, then from Heuston to the bus station to the aiport which is another 40 minutes. Plus airport waiting time.

Meanwhile, if I were to fly from Cork to Heathrow, the flight time is less than an hour and I would be taking off from Heathrow then. The big thing is the waiting time then.

What do others people with a similar dillemma on here do?

i think flying from london is often much cheaper than flying from dublin. look at the various prices and go with suits you best. the way you put it above i'd rather the cork fly to london fly to istanbul route.

It's up to you. I hate Heathrow and will avoid it if at all possible. The idea of making an unnecessary connection there when I could fly direct from Dublin just wouldn't enter my head.

Both Ryanair and Aer Arann fly from Cork to Dublin so this could be an option if you wanted to avoid Heathrow.

I think the main thing is if I was definitely going to use Dublin, I would take the train as I have the free pass. But if I was going to New York I would contemplate either.

When can you be at the airport before the terminal closes/your plane takes off? Can it be up to 1 hour?
