Does anyone have a guide for allowing for filling per tonne , as in tonne per meter cubed for 2 inch stone for footings . I once measured the body of a lorry and calcullated the tonnage of stone it was carrying and it worked out around 1 ton per meter cubed , but I have been told this is incorrect.

That would be very close, imo.

the standard unit of measurement is 2.2m3 per 1 tonne generally accepted as the norm in construction
