    Hi lads,

Right I got Black Ops for the Wii from Santy, :) , and for the life of me I can't get online to have some fun.

COD [MW] is working online no problems but Black Ops not a hope!

    Tried the following:

    1) Different Profile

    2) Did the Wii system update as required

    3) Did a power down/ up of the Eircom broadband router

No dice!! Has anyone else managed to get online with their Wii version of Black Ops?

Anyone have a solution to this problem?

    Cheers!

You also need to do an update of Black Ops itself (patch).
There's two of them and when it says "connecting, please wait" on hitting multiplayer screen, it'll sit there and do nothing for a while - downloading them in the background. I cancelled out of this a few times thinking it had frozen but leave it for a while, go make a cuppa, and if it's the same after half an hour then there is a problem.

What kind of internet connection do you have? Eircom 3Meg jobbie?
Do you have the Wii set up with wireless or wired connection?

So i went home last night armed with different ideas to solve this problem!

Tried the new profile solution again - No joy.

Tried messing around with the router settings - No joy

I have a Netopia 2247 NWG with Eircom, 3MB Package], This was a bit of a disaster as I then locked out my Wii from the net work, was getting a 55030 ERROR!! Yikes!!!!:eek:

I got this issue out of the way and tried my COD MW "Reflex" and this went online, tried Black Ops and it logged on and an UPDATE did run and then i got as far as the online screen searching for games to join, it stated that it found 50 games but it never joined any!!! Time was 12:30 am so I hit the sack. This morning before work I tried to join online and was back to the original error message of not being able to connect to the Black Ops servers!!

IMHO this is a major hassle for the ordinary joe soap who buys the game, off the shelf so to speak, and goes home to find they can't connect, you would not expect the ordinary person to go into expect settings on the router/ modem. Major fail by TreyArch/ Activision - and no support!!!

I am almost at the stage of returning the game to Gamestop and demanding a refund.

All I want from the game is the online fun not interested in the campaign or zombies!!

    Any advice is welcome!

I had a lot of problems myself after I got the game on release but it was more to do with the servers not being up to the number of copies bought.
    Recently though, it's flying along!
I have an official ninty wired adaptor and I heard there were problems with third party versions.

I did set up the port forwarding on the router (it doesn't open the ones used on this game by default) so this might help - go into your advance settings and put the below ports in.
    TCP [443, 3074] UDP [3074, 3075]

I know this might not be ideal but if the above doesn't work, go into the routers settings and set the firewall security level to low (have the same router as yourself).

I know it's a pain in the ar$e doing all this but I assure you that it'll be worth it - it's easily better than reflex and in my opinion, the best fun you can have on Wii. I'll keep an eye on this thread in the next few days and help out if I can.

Am working til 8pm so will try when I get home.

Can you expand a bit more on the above, I advance settings is there an option to add ports or modify, I was looking at this last night and it didn't really stand out to me.

I did try reducing the Firewall security setting to low and this didn't "seem" to make a difference.

Go into "expert mode", then "configure", then "NAT" in the left pane.
    2247NWG-VGx4.jpg
Click the Define Custom Service button near the center of the page.
Put a dot into the "Port Forwarding: Range of Ports" radio button.
    Click the Next button.
    2247NWG-VGx6.jpg
Put the below into the options here

    Service Name: CoDBO1
    Global Port Range: 443 - 443
    Base Host Port: 443
    Protocol: pick TCP

Hit "Next" and do it again for the below:

    Service Name: CoDBO2
    Global Port Range: 3074 - 3074
    Base Host Port: 3074
    Protocol: pick TCP

Hit "Next" and do it again for the below:

    Service Name: CoDBO3
    Global Port Range: 3074 - 3074
    Base Host Port: 3074
    Protocol: pick UDP

Hit "Next" and do it again for the below:

    Service Name: CoDBO4
    Global Port Range: 3075 - 3075
    Base Host Port: 3075
    Protocol: pick UDP

Go back to the main NAT page and pick the CoDBO1 option in the drop down menu and hit "Enable" - do this for the others as well (1-4) and then restart the router.

That "should" do the trick. :)

Right carried out the instructions as you mentioned/ pasted and to my disbelief still not working.

    http://boards.ie/vbulletin/attachment.php?attachmentid=141208&stc=1&d=1293658230

Physically powered off then on the router, tested the Wii internet connection - that reported success

I am at my wits end.

Last thing now is to turn off the firewall!!

    I dunno!! :(

    Service names are --- "CoDB0 (is this a O or 0?) 1

That's an "oh" but it shouldn't really matter -that's just the name which can be anything at all. You've "enabled" them and everything yeah?
Try resetting your wii connection - delete the one you use and set it up again - might pick up the changes properly then.

edit: do you have a wired or wireless connection?

Right I managed to get on line and play a game, got my ass whipped!!!!

But the last change to the router was FIREWALL - OFF

I am heading to bed now but if I can before work I will test it again with the FIREWALL setting to LOW

    The default is MEDIUM.

I didn't delete the Wii connection as you suggested, will try that option tomorrow night.

BTW I have a wireless connection

Before I go I would like to say a BIG THANK you for your suggestions and patience, progress is being made and I really appreciate your replies/ comments and advice. You are what Boards.ie is all about - a helping community!

    Night Night!!

Right so before I left for work i tried the Black Ops again with the router Firewall set to "LOW" and I was able to get online and take part in a game, got my ass whipped again!!!

Later this evening, when I return home, I will revert the Firewall setting to "MEDIUM" and see what happens.

    Will keep ye posted.

    Byeeee!

Thanks again, I will PM you my details so we can meet up some time and have some fun!!

BTW - Do you know if there is an option to play with people locally/ nationally. I thought I heard that this was a new feature on Black Ops, I could be wrong but is a nice thought!!

There's a "region" option in the multiplayer search options which I'm guessing is narrowing it down to Europe. I have it usually set to default and get a lot of annoying yank kids (I have the headbanger headset as well so I end up muting a lot of them - got mine here)

    My ally code is 0260-7654-7102

    My ally code is "4031-5223-5658"

    Rank 3!!! :o

Anyway hope to meet u online some time for some COD Fun!

Haven't tried the "MEDIUM" Firewall setting yet. When I do I will update this thread with the outcome!

    Happy Shooting!

@smokingman - thanks for post #6. I've been trying varying options to connect to multiplayer for a week and thanks to you I'm online now.

callofduty.com and nintendos instructions for port forwarding were minimal.

I'll post my AC in a week when I get used to the new maps.

I know on the PS3 and XBOX, callofduty.com has extra features, like theatre mode and all that.
Does anyone know if theres anything good on their for Wii users?

I actually tried registering but it wouldnt let me, for some reason.

Nah, nothing I'm afraid. They don't even have a "I have the Wii Version" option in the registration!

Who cares though, you're getting far better control compared to the other versions ;)
